Page 1 of 2 Pilates is a non-impact workout suitable for all levels of fitness which focuses on training the abdominal and other deep muscles of the ‘core’ (trunk) of the body to work efficiently and integrates mind and body during the workout. Muscles are lengthened and strengthened. There is a focus on breathing which aids concentration and helps lower stress levels.
 This regular Pilates class provides an affordable, local exercise class especially for those who may never join a gym with access to classes, enabling a wider range of people to experience the benefits of Pilates exercise. Pilates has a broad appeal across the age groups as a non-impact workout suitable for all levels of fitness, including complete beginners and people who do not currently exercise regularly. Although Pilates is certainly both suitable and beneficial for men, it tends to appeal more to women and this has certainly been the case with the MBC class so far, however please note that men are always welcome to attend!
The many benefits of regular Pilates practice include the following:
• increased flexibility, mobility, balance and co-ordination • reduced stress due to the focus on breathing and mind/body connection • reduced risk of injuries and easing of muscular pain in the back and neck • improved posture and ease of movement in performing daily tasks • enhanced muscle tone and strength • decreased risk of osteoporosis
In short, Pilates can improve the quality of YOUR life, however old or ‘young’ you are!
Note that the class does not run on the 4th Friday of each month due to other use of the church premises, however there is an occasional ‘social’ for those who would still like to meet on a Friday when there is no class. This is usually for a slightly less healthy activity such as coffee/drinks & desserts at a local cake shop!
When does the ministry run: Friday night at 7.30pm – 8.30pm including during school holidays, however NO class on the 4th Friday of each month
Targeted towards: All are welcome as this is a non-impact workout suitable for all levels of fitness, including complete beginners and people who do not currently exercise regularly. Currently the class is attended by women, but men are always welcome!
